CORNERSTONE TEAM

Robert "Bob" F. Barranger , AIA, NCARB
Senior Project Director

Robert "Bob" F. Barranger, AIA, NCARB serves as an Architect/Senior Project Director at Cornerstone Architectural Group, where his practice focuses on municipal and governmental projects, police headquarters, corporate interiors, and historic restoration, where his service-driven, client-focused approach delivers effective solutions for complex design needs.

Bob's approach centers on managing client expectations, delivering design solutions that exceed client goals, and maintaining budget and schedule compliance. A founding member of the Cornerstone team since 1987, Bob understands the critical nature of maintaining client relationships and makes it a priority, as evidenced by the many long-term clients he has the honor to work with every day. He brings particular value as a trusted advisor who understands that successful projects require balancing creative vision with practical constraints.

With more than four decades of industry experience, Bob’s broad portfolio of notable projects makes it difficult to choose his favorites. A few that highlight his range and expertise: The Manville Municipal Courtroom integrated new construction with an existing former branch bank building and was recognized with a design award by the Somerset County Planning Board for innovation in the Adaptive Reuse category. The design of SHI's World Headquarters in Somerset, New Jersey completely transformed a former five-story office building into a LEED Gold certified interior working environment that earned design awards from Good Neighbor, Somerset County Land Development & Planning, and the United Way. The historic restoration of the Van Camp Farmstead Barn in Somerset County, originally built in 1835, brought new life to a weathered and forgotten local treasure. The timber post and beam structure was carefully preserved, the roofing replaced, and the exterior reclad with board-on-board siding painted in its original barn red to restore this landmark structure.

Bob is grateful to those who helped put him on the path to architecture. His parents encouraged him to explore his artistic abilities, mechanical ingenuity, and creativity. During his formative high school years, both a technical drafting teacher and art instructor recognized these abilities and became mentors who challenged him to further his passion for design and art. Outside the office, Bob channels his creativity and skill into aviation, scale model building, 1960s muscle cars, and all things NASCAR. He enjoys fishing, relaxing at the beach, serving his community, and the great joy of being a grandfather.
