The big question. To demolish and rebuild, or to leave and renovate? The building was found to have "good bones" that would facilitate a major make-over expansion. We proposed a beach club vibe! What was once a seasonal building, is now a year-round facility. Youth programs with bursting enrollments. Pool usage and memberships on the increase. More activity spaces need. A time sensitive build. Our project approach schedules the build-out through the seasons of fall and winter into the spring. Thus, not impacting the seasonal pool and new building in time for the summer season was successful.
The existing building was approximately 4,500 square feet and over 50 years old. Built in 1963, as a one story, seasonal building without heat and only natural ventilation. The residents expressed concerns about its suitability and adequacy. The design solution nearly doubles the building in overall area and will house day campers during inclement weather. There will be nearly 2,000 additional sheltered square feet. A new welcoming public entrance design features an impressive, friendly, "see through" the building experience. Amenities now include; a new fitness center, multi-purpose activity space available for public events and a commercial kitchen.
